PUNK ISLAND 2011 YOUTUBE PREVIEW FINISHER.

I am just not going to get ALL of the Punk Island stages. I just have too many other responsibilities. I suppose there were showers I could have skipped, maybe not gone to work one day or helped my kid with his homework, but...I think everyone is grateful I showered. Really. I will put up the last 3 stages of the lineup here, and try to find a youtubes for each one.

Stage 6: Wombat Stage
Daycare Swindlers

No Service Project

Pig Invasion
Rats in Rigor
Wombat in Combat
Skum City
Blackout Shoppers
In Circles

Stage 7: Independent Media Stage
White Collar Crime (reunion show, after 8 year hiatus)

Punk version of "Don't Cry for Me Argentina"

The Furiousity (Boston, MA)

No Vice!
Crazy Pills
Social Standards
Radar Fiction
Kitsch Kitsch
the Cr@ss cover band (a.k.a. "Creep Dog", etc.)
Todd Colby (poet)
Sparrow (poet, both poets are published by Soft Skull Press.)

Stage 8: Tinnitus Stage
Cinema Cinema

Trowels

R-Tronika
Duckmandu
Isachrist
High School Confidential
Grey Market
Shit Show
Love Bullet
American Thighs
Flesh Control
Desekilibrio Social

NO MATTER WHAT I PUT DOWN HERE, nothing beats just going to the middle of the big field (see map in the next blogpost) and listening. You'll hear everyone at once, but quietly. Follow your ears! :)

PUNK ISLAND 2011 MAP FROM 1917

This is what I was lacking last year. This picture of a lamb chop, or perhaps a surveyor's map from 1917 clearly has the stage numbers written on it. Sideways. It took a little searching for me, but Stage 8 is on the far right.

PUNK ISLAND 2011 PREVIEW STAGE 5: CHICKENMAN STAGE

Stage 5: Chickenman Stage

Retro Viral

Sound quality not so good, but you get the idea.

Stampy Goblyn

I Hope You Die
Common name for a song, but did not see the band. Too many youtube videos to dig through. Sorry.

Mirrors & Wires

Up For Nothing

The Scandals
I am thinking it's these guys, and not the blues band from Rochester.

Side Effects

Really? From NJ? Here they are doing a cover. Covers show a band's character. It's not how the band's cover sounds the same as the orig., but how it sounds different...

Some good stuff here. I could even find some of the bands for us to watch and listen to. Good band names too! I might come over and listen to Dog Bites Everyone. But don't let that keep you away... ;)

AmRev, not found. AmRev 2--fun punk ska

I hope to god that they play Feliz Navidad on Sunday!

Punk Island Preview 2011 Cr00cial Br00tal Stage

I think the goal of a band name these days can't just be irony, but you also have to be able to stand out in a google or youtube search. Or else potential fans can't find you through the swamp of other kinds of "victims" or "d.u.i." related videos online.

Stage 2: Cr00cial Br00tal Stage

Warfear
Couldn't find them on youtube, but even I've heard of Warfear so I tried my_____. Here is an embed from them. Lemme know if it doesn't work. That way I won't bother going back to myspace for this.

Find more WARFEAR songs at Myspace Music

Neon Bitches
Not found on youtube.

Torchbearer
Ok. I don't want to believe that this is the right band. Because if they are, they've come all the way from Sweden for this event. I did not see any other "Torchbearer" punk bands out there. I am hoping I am wrong here. Anyway....

I give you Torchbearer, all the way from Sweden.

Less Life
Not found.

Relics

My feeling: worth it for the drummer.

Fashion Week
Too many unrelated videos found. Not looking.

Zombie Fight

My feeling: traditional.

D.U.I.
Too many unrelated videos found. Not looking.

Punk Island 2011 Preview for June 19 2011--MAIN STAGE LINE-UP

The good news is that the Punk Island festival on Governor's Island has been posted! There are 8 stages! The bad news is that there is no map yet.  They claim that there will be a map, online and on the island. If we judge by last year, no one will be able to find the map, and there will be lost bands!

But here is the line-up for the main stage. I will post some videos of the bands.   I'll post the other stages' line-ups on different blog posts so all the videos don't slow the pages.

Stage 1: Main Stage
Zounds (by the Gods I hope these are the people from 1981!!! If so, here they are. If not, well...it's some people who didn't check to see if their band name was used already.)

A.P.P.L.E.
--Not found

Stizza Crack (solo set)
--It's a solo act.

Agitator
--Curiously./ a lot of bands are called "Agitator" or "The Agitators."  I will not post until I know which is actually playing.

The Homewreckers

Mongrel Bitch

Yula and the Extended Family

Zero ContentUrgent Fury
--Not found, under either name or both names together.
